Highland Whisky Region Map

Highland, which includes the unofficial Islands sub-region, is the largest whisky producing region in Scotland by geographical area. There are five Highland distilleries featured in the Flora and Fauna collection. Highland malt whiskies tend to be sweet, fruity and spicy, though the body and texture varies across the region owing to the different influences of the coast, land and altitudes that affect the barley and water. Whiskies commonly take on the characteristics of their neighbouring regions, with deeper peatier whiskies produced towards the Western Highlands, and lighter, fresher whiskies produced toward the Southern Eastern Highlands.
