Mortlach

    Founded in 1823 by James Findlater, Mortlach Distillery was the first legal distillery in Dufftown and remained the only Dufftown distillery until Glenfiddich was founded in 1887.

    The distillery passed through several owners until 1923 when it was acquired by John Walker and Sons, which joined Distillers Company in 1925 and was acquired by Guinness in 1986. Guinness merged Distillers Company with Arthur Bell & Sons in in 1987 to form United Distillers, leading to the Mortlach F&F release.
