Original 1991 Release

The original 1991 Flora & Fauna release featured 22 whiskies from different distilleries owned by United Distillers (now Diageo). The bottles from the first edition release were presented with white caps in a wooden box. The subsequent edition featured bottles with black caps presented in a wooden box, whilst later editions featured black caps with cardboard carton or no box/carton at all.

United Distillers did not officially name the collection and the ‘Flora and Flora’ name was coined by the late whisky writer Michael Jackson owing to the label designs. Though the whiskies appeared in the second edition (1991) of his Malt Whisky Companion, the whiskies weren’t referred to as ‘Flora and Flora’ until the third edition (1994).
